Parental Notification Ballot Initiative Argued In Alaska Court

Attorneys appeared in Alaska state court Wednesday to argue for and against a ballot initiative that would require physicians to notify the parents of minors before abortion procedures, the Anchorage Daily News reports. Attorney Jeff Feldman filed a lawsuit against the initiative’s supporters on behalf of Planned Parenthood of Alaska and other clients. According to Feldman, the initiative fails to make clear to voters that physicians could be jailed for five years if they fail to locate a parent, verify the parent’s identification and personally notify him or her of the procedure… (Source: Health News from Medical News Today)
